The Kugelsburg was built in the year 1200!

After Volkmarsen became at the end of the 11th century Mainzer feudal tenure of the earl of Everstein, who build the Kugelsburg around 1200 (by the way in no way for the town's protection ; there was rather a lot of quarrel between the two) 
it became in the mid-12th century an Amtshof (official office) for the monastery Corvey.
