The town Volkmarsen is since 1978 a state approved spa resort.

Today Volkmarsen has 7.000 inhabitants. Though industry and business trades bestow Volkmarsen the character of a rising town it remained its original charm and its natural.

The townscape is being dominated by the tower of the Catholic Church St. Marien as well as the ruin Kugelsburg above Volkmarsen, the town's landmark.
